Dear Friends and Supporters!

We, Empower Develop Dignify (EDD) are honored to update all supporters and globalgiving the progress we made together at the end of the year.
This is a progressive report of the Education Sponsoring program for about 172 students who are studying at different education levels (31 Primary, 139 Secondary and 2 vocational training). It is sure that Without your generous support their chance for education would remain impossible. We are always grateful for your kind-hearted extended to our program especially to our beneficiaries.
Your contribution has enabled us to pay some of the student’s payment of school fees, school materials, school follow up charges for our students in this school term.
EDD is delighted to share the success of EDD students specially the students who did national exams for Secondary (6 students) and Primary (7students) where 13 students who did national tests received good marks and all were promoted to next school classes. We managed to pay the school fees and materials for students studying for this new school year.
9 students did a final national exam; we are waiting for the results which will give them a chance to join university with government scholarships or go to the job market.
We are also pleased to give our thanks to globalgiving team with their training, guidance, and matching funds which make a difference in our progress. 19 youth failed to continue their studies this school term because of different life challenges on the side of families. If a budget allows, we will give a second chance so that they can do short courses of life skills which will help them to continue their life with hands-on activities.

A story of boy called Cyriaque:
‘’My name is BYIRINGIRO Cyriaque, I am one of the kids that have been supported by EDD for many years. I went to live on the street when I was like 8-9 years old. I experienced the struggle of looking for what to eat and I was always running away from the police and they wanted to catch us and take us back to school.
And it is not because we did not want to be in school but the problem was the other situation all the way back in my own family, which was pushing me to go to the street, we would starve on the street.
At that time, we were still young at that time and believed that going on the street was better than staying at our homes.so we were living wandering around the whole city.
Luckily, one day, thanks to God who loves all kids and everyone else. I met a religious sister (Nun), she generously gave me clothes and advised me on how it is no good to stay on the street. She really helped me a lot and if I want I can say that I am here today thanks to her.
She encouraged me and told me that it was possible and not even too late for me to return back to school. We agreed and asked her to get me back to school once it will be possible for me to return to school. After a while, it became possible and told me to get ready because she was coming to take me to a school in Kigali that is called EDD that helped kids like I was. So I put on the clean clothes and she sent her car to pick me up, it was my first time to reach Kigali capital.
Arriving at the EDD center, I saw other kids that were of the same age and it was easy for me to make friends. I benefited a lot from there, I received care and tenderness and I was able to go back to school. Last year, I was in senior 3 and sat national exams and have successful passed it with 53/54 and I am joining Teacher Training Center (TTC) which will help me reach at my dream of becoming a teacher.’’
EDD is ready to partner with all of you in supporting students who are in the education program. We have a limited budget as we didn’t raise much for this year. The total yearly budget is around 20 thousand USD per year. We still aim at raising the rest of this budget for this 3rd term where we need nearly 6 thousand USD, always relying on your kind heart and a helping hand.
For the update, After running a Early childhood development program(ECD) and amazed with the prograss,ECD stakeholders proposed a primary school project and made us decide to start next year September 2022 a primary school. As our key partners of EDD you are all welcome to stand with us in this big assignment ahead of us.

Thank you all
