They are waiting for your support
By Beatrice Vanaja | Chief Administrative Officer
Dear donors,
Gratitude for the support you have been providing the New Life team continuously.
The prisoners were given trainings on various trades since the beginning. Some of them are:
The trainings have helped 972 prisoners since 1997, to start small ventures in tailoring, candle making, etc.
Mr. Anand (name changed) who was trained in automobile mechanism in 2009 by New Life in the Central Prison, is now released and is doing repair works for two wheelers. He says he earns a minimum of Rs. 500/- per day. His family is happy and his sons are now studying 10th and 8th standards. Anand is dreaming of making his sons Engineers.
Such a bright change is possible only because of the support provided by you dear donors. And we are thankful to you for making this happen and being a cause of the change. And these inmates who have diverted their lives in a positive direction are much much thankful for you being with them morally.
Now we are waiting for funds to conduct the Kundan Jewellery making training to be conducted in the prison. And this is possible only with your support. Kindly spread words to your friends and relatives who have joy in changing lives. Your words carry more weight.
Thank you

Help these women to change
By F. Beatrice Vanaja | Chief Administrative Officer
Dear Donors,
Thanks to your donations the inmates of the Special Prison have been trained in so many trades like Tailoring, vermi compost production, candle, washing powder, incense powder making, etc. These trainings have given them courage and confidence to face their future and the community once they get released. The trainings have also helped them keep themselves busy and engaged instead of idling away the time in prison and dwelling in the past/fearful thoughts.
The women who were forced into activities that conflict with law, either because of their poverty or due to emotions were now given a new livelihood skill which will help them to get settled with self pride. All this is possible only with your support. You made this happen.
Your continued support (both financial and moral) will help other women inmates who want to change. The organisation is now planning to give training on Kundan Jewellery production to the inmates. The training will be given to 30 beneficiaries for a month. Kundan Jewellery is the art of making jewels with gem stones. The women are fond of these jewellery as they are cheaper and it comes in vibrant colours that match their attire. Hence it is a profitable venture.
So kindly spread words about this project to your friends and relatives. We can start the training in the next month if we receive the required donation of $360
We require generous donors to support us continue working for this cause. Kindly help us.
Regards

Vermi Compost Training
By F. Beatrice Vanaja | Chief Administrative Officer
Dear Donors,
27 women inmates of the Special Prison for Trichy were given training on the production of Vermi compost. They were given information on sourcing the raw material required, the process of producing the compost, packing techniques and the details on marketing outlets. They were also taught the price fixing method and the costs to be included while fixing the rate per kg. The inmates were involved in training right from the process of building the compost pit till reaping the compost.
80 Kg of compost was produced. The inmates were happy that they were taught a simple and low cost technology of the compost production. They can easily start this venture when they get discharged from the prison as the capital required for starting the production is less and the technology to be followed is easy.
We thank all the donors who have helped to conduct the training program by contributing magnanimously. Kindly continue supporting the project by spreading words about the project to your friends and relatives. Thus we can work together and contribute to a crime free community.
