Over 4000 households impacted with wind and flood waters in Duplin County, North Carolina by Hurricane Florence. These people lost their homes, vehicles, personal property causing problems getting to work and schools, health problems from mold and emotional, mental health problems from the stress. These people are working hard to make their homes livable again but are lacking funds to achieve even the basics. This project will help at least 25 families return to safe, secure, sanitary homes.
We will be able to provide funds to purchase building materials and furniture to make homes safe, secure and sanitary. Since all the labor will be volunteers we encourage those receiving funding to also help with the process involved in recovery including planning and actual labor. We will be building a sense of community by working together so that all people that were impacted will be in safe, secure and healthy environments.
This project will restore at least 25 households to a safe environment which will improve the physical and mental health of those families. By improving health we will also be helping the local economy by people returning to the area, being able to get to work on a regular schedule and to get all children back to their own schools where they feel safe and secure.
