COVID-19 has been declared a world pandemic. It has already affected more than 200,000 people with many losing their lives. The spread of COVID 19 can be stopped. With this knowledge Communities Health Africa Trust (CHAT) is joining other global organizations to ensure we help all the community's most at risk. We work with remote and vulnerable communities in northern Kenya with little to no information and basic supplied to protect themselves from COVID19.
We have set up this emergency response fundraiser to provide the basic information and supplies communities in northern Kenya need to protect themselves from C19. Currently, there is lack of correct information, influenced by high illiteracy levels, which has led to a lot of panic and fear. Without the right information and materials to prevent C19, its risk of spreading rapidly is high. We aim at reducing the risk of spreading the virus by sharing the correct government approved information.
CHAT knows that reaching communities in a door to door approach is the only effective way to educate and ensure behavior change for community level diseases. We continue to equip our Community Own Resource Persons (CORPs) with materials to go door to door sensitizing community members on how to keep safe and prevent themselves from contacting the disease. We continue to procure thermometers, soap, water containers, PPE materials and pamphlets to help curb the spread and create awareness on C19
The COVID 19 disease will be slowed down and finally be stopped from spreading once everyone follows the guidelines.
