Since 2017, Vital UK has supported CINI to bring about changes in the lives of a total number of 1730children at risk of or subjected to severe violation of rights, including child labour, early marriage and trafficking.
In the year 2022, total number of 196 children belonging to the most marginalised and vulnerable communities and at risk of trafficking and abuse, have been reached with support of Vital UK. Among those children, 57 children who have never been to school or have dropped out to get engaged in labor, were mainstreamed and enrolled into formal schools. 80 children who are first generation learners and unable to cope with the curriculum level at school have received bridge course education support, in order to bring them in a pace that will help them to cope with the studies.
71 children including both boys and girls have been trained on self-defence with karate, and among them 45 children have appeared for formal examination to be certified karate practitioners.
The project has reached out to 76 stakeholders including local elected representatives, school teachers, healthcare officials, police officials and railway officials in order to sensitize them on protecting children from trafficking, abuse and early marriage along with increasing their engagement in protecting the rights of the children in Mallikpur. 600 community members have been sensitized on child protection mechanisms, government schemes and services as well as maintaining safety protocols to prevent another wave of COVID-19.
In this way, a community-based safety net is being formed and strengthened so that children in Mallikpur, who are at high risk of trafficking, abuse, child labor and early marriage due to frequent migration and severe margianlization of the community.
