Robotics and Scratch Programming at ACT

By Madhulika Dhindaw | Operations Manager

Understanding the Process.
Understanding the Process.

ACT had organised a 4-day Dream Kit Creators Camp wherein 38 talented ACT students immersed themselves in the fascinating realms of Robotics and Scratch Programming. They also learnt the importance of aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while creating or innovating in any subject.

During the camp, these young innovators embarked on a mission to identify a problem that resonated with the SDGs. Through thoughtful discussions and guidance from our expert mentors, they honed their skills in problem identification and selected a specific challenge to tackle. But that's not all – we firmly believe in the power of empathy. Our campers were encouraged to put themselves in the shoes of those affected by the problem, fostering a deeper understanding and compassion. Armed with this empathetic perspective, they went on to build model solution scenarios that could truly make a difference. It was inspiring to witness their growth and witness their passion for solving real-world problems.

Sharing the feedback of Manish, 2nd PUC student at ACT:

“I learnt a lot of new things in Dream Kit Camp 2. On the 1st day, my team and I tried to think of new ideas to solve the plastic problem by creating a cloth bag with different features.

I had learnt a new topic - Sustainable Development Goals - which really influenced me to discover a solution. My favorite part in this camp was building an automatic robot which was really crazy and fascinating. The last day of the class was the best because my team and I tried our level best to solve a real life problem, and we presented our solution in CANVA and Scratch Anime software. The best activity in this session was asking the strangers about theirs problems and finding solutions which was really a different experience. I am happy that I got an opportunity to participate in this camp.”

These are some of the great initiatives developed by our students in line with sustainable development goals. These strategies are making a positive impact and helping to uplift those in need. Here are some highlights:

1. Paper Bag Revolution: Our students have come up with an ingenious solution to combat pollution by promoting the use of eco-friendly paper bags. Let's reduce our reliance on plastic and protect our environment together!

2. Clean Water for All: Access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right. Our talented ACT students have developed innovative purification systems to ensure safe and reliable drinking water facilities, reaching communities that need it the most.

3. Empowering Transgender Individuals: Equality and inclusivity are at the forefront of our students' endeavours. They have created a job portal specifically designed for transgender people, providing them with equal opportunities to find employment and contribute to society.

4. Green Earth, Green Future: Our students understand the importance of trees in combating climate change. They have initiated tree-planting campaigns to promote environmental sustainability and preserve our planet for future generations.

5. App for the Elderly: Our innovative minds have developed an app catering to the needs of our elderly population. With user-friendly features and relevant functionalities, this app aims to enhance the lives of senior citizens and promote connectivity within their communities.

6. Helping Hand for the Needy: ACT students have established offering boxes filled with essential food items and other necessities for those in need. Through these compassionate efforts, we strive to bring smiles to the faces of the less fortunate.

7. Capturing Water from Fog: Water scarcity is a pressing issue in many regions. Our students have designed systems to collect water from fog, harnessing this untapped resource to benefit communities facing water shortages.

8. Clean Air for All: Recognizing the importance of breathable air, our students have developed a machine that purifies the surrounding air, reducing pollution levels and promoting healthier living environments.

9. Protecting Underwater Life: Our students are passionate about preserving marine ecosystems. They have implemented innovative measures to save underwater life, raising awareness about the importance of biodiversity conservation.

10. Inclusive Employment: Our commitment to inclusivity extends to the differently abled. To empower individuals with disabilities, our students have created a job-finding app tailored specifically to their needs, bridging the gap and promoting equal opportunities.

11. Communication for All: Our students have developed a ground-breaking app that facilitates communication for deaf and mute individuals. This technology opens new doors for interaction and bridges the communication gap, fostering inclusivity and understanding.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all our generous donors for their support. Your contributions have made a significant impact on our mission and have played a vital role in helping us achieve our goals. We are immensely grateful for your dedication and commitment to our cause.
