The Qurbani for Syria 2025 project was implemented by Elaf for Relief and Development (Elaf RD) to support vulnerable communities during Eid Al-Adha. The initiative aimed to provide fresh meat to families facing severe economic hardship, ensuring they could participate in this important religious occasion with dignity.
Through a well-coordinated targeting and verification process, the project successfully reached 500 of the most vulnerable families, including internally displaced persons, female-headed households, elderly individuals, and families with persons with disabilities. Qurbani animals were procured and slaughtered in accordance with Islamic principles, and the meat was processed, packaged, and distributed following strict hygiene and safety standards.
The project contributed to improving short-term food security and enhancing the well-being of beneficiaries during Eid. It also reinforced a sense of inclusion, dignity, and community solidarity among vulnerable populations. Despite challenges such as rising livestock prices and logistical constraints, the project was implemented effectively, with positive feedback from beneficiaries and strong community engagement.
Overall, the intervention successfully met its objectives, providing timely and culturally appropriate assistance to those most in need.
