Project Results Report – Access to Safe Water in Piruaj Bajo and Tacioj (Northern Argentina)
During the reporting period, our organization successfully implemented a water access initiative in the communities of Piruaj Bajo and Tacioj, located in northern Argentina. The intervention consisted of the construction of five household cisterns, each with a storage capacity of 16,000 liters of water. Every cistern was assigned to one family, directly benefitting five households.
The cisterns are designed to harvest and store rainwater during the rainy season (October to March). This water is safe for human consumption, providing a significant improvement compared to the water families previously accessed. Until now, families relied on water from nearby lagoons, which contain high levels of arsenic and fluoride, making it unsuitable and potentially harmful for daily use. Moreover, the area lacks piped water infrastructure, and households have no direct access to water taps. As a result, families were compelled to fetch water manually from lagoons every day, a practice both unsafe and time-consuming.
Through this project, five sustainable water solutions have been delivered, enabling five families to access clean and safe drinking water directly at their homes. This represents not only a critical improvement in health and wellbeing, but also a tangible reduction in daily burdens related to water collection.
