Facilitating Action for Community Empowerment one repaired tape water for Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp on the outskirt of Juba City in Central Equatoria State in South Sudan. Some of the Returns and Refuges from Sudan have also settled in the same camp so that they can have access to basic services such as sources of clean water, food, and non-food items. Approximately 20, 000 people have settled in the area include, including internally displaced persons who are flood survivors, Returnees, and refugees from Sudan. The repaired tape water is currently supplying clean and safe drinking water to 5000 people.

The project amount of $216.29 that was disbursed to FACE Juba, South Sudan, under the project of provision of safe clean water to 4000  people, The amount is used to  repair a spoiled borehole  within the Internal Displaced Persons’ settlement, that has not been operational for the last 12 Months due to the spoiled extra deep pump and pipe. FACE therefore assessed the borehole, purchased the spare parts and fixed them hence providing safe and clean water to 500 Internal Displaced Persons who came from different states due to the flooding and settled in capital City Juba of South Sudan.

No new boreholes have been drilled the 400 people living in the area still depend on one borehole and fetch water from the stream water for washing and bathing which is unhealthy for human consumption.  

Efforts

No service provider provided clean drinking to the 4000 People in the area could be due to limited sources of funding

Action point 

  • There is an urgent need to provide safe drinking water to the population living in the area
  • Need to construct a local bridge for the community t enable them to connect their livelihood activities
