In 2024, our 400,000-liter reservoir in Minova was a lifeline, providing clean water to both residents and displaced, distributing over 18 million liters from June to November. We provided jerrycans to those without means to collect water and extended our water network with connections to two major IDP camps.
The dedicated Minova healthcare team worked tirelessly to treat displaced individuals, addressing malaria, typhoid, UTIs, parasites, and STIs. Tragically, many displaced individuals arrived at the clinic with advanced illnesses due to prolonged lack of medical access and the spread of these diseases through their poor living conditions. To address these needs, in addition to outpatient care, we also provided overnight stay, hospitalization, and childbirth support in our maternity ward.
Over the past few months, there has been a significant decline in healthcare services due to the closure of all camps following the capture of Minova by M23. Despite this, we remain committed to caring for displaced individuals staying with host families, addressing their health needs and ensuring access to clean water.
"We are sincerely thankful for the assistance provided," remarked Sylvine, a displaced mother who brought her sick 2-year-old child to the Asili clinic in Minova, fearing she couldn't afford medical care. She was relieved to find that Asili offered free healthcare services to displaced families and expressed immense gratitude.
Your generosity enables us to continue assisting families like Sylvine’s, as our dedicated local staff remain steadfast in providing essential support that meets the community’s needs.
