Education is one of the key components of success in the world we are living in today, it is imperative to give every single child access to not just education but also the materials needed to ensure that the education gained is effective and has had real life impact on the child, equipping him or her with the tools needed to make an impact in his or her world.
This is not always the case as certain schools are unable to provide their students with the necessities required to enjoy not just an education but a quality one. It is always important to remember that teaching and learning materials are one of the most important tools in every education and inaccessibility to these things inhibit the learning process. Let’s imagine a world where books and the knowledge they provide are inaccessible to children, tables and desks for use during lessons are unavailable or in this era where the world is making such momentous advancements based on technology, children lack ICT training because of the unavailability of computers.
At CRI our goal is to even out the playing field, and to ensure that, we push disadvantaged children forward by providing them with some of the things they deprived of. Based on this principle we in partnership with Mondelez Cocoa Life Project through the Global Giving campaign, identified certain schools that needed certain materials to improve the teaching and learning process.
Once contact was established with these schools, their specific needs were brought to the fore and measures were put in place to ensure that the things needed were provided as soon as possible. Some of the things that were required by the various schools were desks, textbooks, computers, laptops among other things.
Currently, plans are underway to provide the Adwumakase school with five computers, over a hundred textbooks, thirty boxes of chalk, and ten dictionaries and school desks. All materials urgently needed by the school for use during lessons.
We must admit that we are proud of the strides that these contributions made to these schools bring in the lives of children our most important benefactors. Seeing them learning in an environment that is both comfortable and educating brings a sense of fulfillment that doing the right thing always induces. More than ever these children remind us to never give up and to always strive for the best. Their keenness for life and the innocence with which they enjoy the littlest things like a children’s rhyme in the middle of the lesson brings a smile to every face. We will continue to do our best to ensure that we make their education an enjoyable experience for as long as we can.
