On January 16th, Uradi Primary School started its school lunch program with a celebration attended by the entire school, parents, guardians, community leaders, the board of management, the parent teacher association, and local politicians. This is the official beginning of Uradi becoming a part of the Umoja family.
Since announcing that the school would join the Umoja Project late last year, the enrollment increased for the 2019 school year. The number of orphaned and vulnerable children attending this school went from 185 in 2018 to 302. This type of increase has been common in the history of our program, as link teachers and head teachers all report children walking past other primary schools to come to an Umoja Project school where they know that can eat every day, recieve a much needed uniform, attend empowerment programs, and have a chance at a scholarship for secondary school.
Please keep these students in your thoughts and prayers as they begin their school year!
