Nametsa Primary is located high in the hills of rural western Kenya. In this remote area, families struggle to provide even the most basic necessities for their children. Farming is difficult in the rocky hills, and food is often scarce. Until the school lunch program began, many students missed school because of the need to scavenge for food.
Because of the desperate need in this area, the school lunch program perhaps has had more impact on Nametsa Primary than any of the other 17 partnering primary schools. Nametsa students now attend school regularly, and are doing much better in their studies. However, it isn't just the enrolled students who benefit from the school lunch: when the bell for lunch rings, preschoolers come running from the surrounding area to join their older siblings for lunch. The older children gladly share their lunch with the little ones, knowing they may not have any other food to eat.
Officially your donation of $25 feeds one child for a year. However, it actually feeds more than one child, as the students generously share their food with the little ones. Thank you so much for making this possible!
