Summary

Jakarta's urban poor teens face high risks of early pregnancy, sexual abuse, and harassment due to a lack of knowledge and support. In our focus area, 80% of school-age children don't know how to protect themselves. This project will train 450 teens and teachers in four schools through interactive sessions, engaging materials, and teacher training. By empowering both students and educators, we ensure lasting impact in creating a safer, more informed generation. Support this change!

Challenge

Jakarta's youth face high risks of early pregnancy and sexual abuse. In Krendang, West Jakarta, a densely populated urban poor area, 17% of teens have experienced pregnancy. A 2021 report found rising child sexual abuse cases, and our pilot in 4 schools showed 80% of kids lacked awareness of harassment prevention. Some even had to stop school due to early pregnancy. This project empowers teens and schools with vital reproductive health education to create a safer future.

Solution

Our project empowers teens and teachers through interactive, contextualized reproductive health education. Teens join four engaging sessions with workbooks, learning about physical changes, boundaries, and healthy decision-making, then sharing their knowledge with family and friends. Teachers receive training to provide lessons, counseling, and support to students in grades 4-6. This program builds confidence and awareness, helping young people make safer choices and create a brighter future.

Long-Term Impact

We are committed to understanding and measuring change, always improving how we track impact. In our project, impact is seen when teens understand key issues like body safety and healthy choices, apply what they learn in daily life, and share with others. This follows our empowerment journey: learn, practice, and share. We also empower teachers to guide students, support families, and strengthen schools, ensuring long-term change that creates a safer, more informed future for young people.
