Provide hairdressing training for teenage mums

Hi, Thank you so much for your financial support for the Kimbilio Project to provide hairdressing training for teenage mums so that they will gain the skills to be able to set up businesses and so be able to provide for their children. It is so important that we are able to break the cycle of poverty that leads to living on the streets.  

The hairdressing course is of five month duration and the current course began in September 2024 and will conclude in January 2025. The young mums on the course are teenagers who had babies while they were living on the streets. At the end of their course, the young mums will receive a hairdressing kit so that they can start their businesses straightaway.

Since 2018, Kimbilio has successfully provided training for 40 young mums. Thank you for your support

Thank you so much for supporting the Kimbilio Project to provide hairdressing and beauty training for teenage mums. All the last intake of mums successfully completed the course and they now have the hairdressing and beauty skills plus the tools to enable them to be able to earn an income. The young mums are at the start of the pathway from poverty and to be able to provide for themselves and their families.

Life on the streets in Lubumbashi for young women can be very dangerous and, by taking them off the streets by providing accommodation for them for the duration of the course, Kimbilio gives the young women a place of safety where they will be cared for and be valued. The hairdressing course increases their self-esteem by giving them new skills and the income will help the young mums to feed their babies and to care for them properly.
