Here at Pathways To Safety International we can't believe how quickly this year has gone by. We have provided critical, and often live-saving services, to a record number of battered American women & children overseas. While the 2018 stats won't be completed until January 2019, we expect an increase of 20% more survivors served in 2018 compared to 2017.

In addition, we are experiencing even more complicated multi-jurisdictional cases requiring intensive case management, more resources and more cash assistance to battered American mothers and their children sufering in foreign countries.

One of the areas we particularly need help with is emergency hotel rooms for victims fleeing violence while we work with them to get them to safety.

We created a micro-project for this purpose.

We hope you will consider giving the gift of safety to battered American mothers so they can keep their children safe this holiday season.

Thank you from the Pathways team!

When LeeAnne called us from Paraguay, she was terrified. Her husband had been threatening to kill her and her son Olan if she ever tried to leave him. He had become very violent. He held a position as an executive in a large company and she didn't think anyone would believe her if she told them of the abuse. She explained her bruises away by telling his work colleagues how clumsy she was, always tripping and falling, while her husband glared at her smugly.

We spent several weeks safety planning with LeeAnne so she could safely escape with Olan back to the USA. LeeAnne did not feel it was safe to go home to her parents house so we arranged shelter for her in a town in the same State as her parents.

LeeAnne and Olan are safe in shelter. She knows she has a long road ahead of her but feels confident. Here is an exerpt from an email LeeAnne sent us.

"Thank God for Pathways. Without you I don't know if we would have survived. I am so happy I found you."

We want to thank you for supporting this project and battered women like LeeAnne!

Best wishes, The Pathways' Team

We truly appreciate your support for our project Help Rescue 500 Battered Women & Their Children.

We wanted to let you know that we have changed the name of the organization from the Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center to Pathways To Safety International.

We feel the new name better reflects the work we do to help American victims of interpersonal and gender based violence abroad. We help every person we serve navigate a different set of circumstances and create a unique path to get them to safety at home in the USA whenever possible.

As a donor to this project, you help victims every day escape violent, and often, potentially lethal situations.

Thank you so much for your support and your belief in our mission!

In 2017 we had 11,760 communications from American victims in 77 countries. Of these 559 received long term, intensive case managment and holistic services including housing, counseling, relocation back to the USA, child care, transportation and so much more. In many cases these were life saving. In all cases, live altering.

Countries where help was needed most: Mexico, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, UAE, UK, Canada, Italy, Sweden, Israel, Jordan, South Korea and Switzerland. Every year as awareness of our program grows, the need for our services grows.

We can't thank you enough for supporting this project and the hundreds of battered American mothers and their children suffering alone in foreign countries.

We are so happy to update you on Marisa & Lexi. Last month we let you know how donors like you had helped Marisa escape abuse in Brazil and come home with her daughter Lexi.

Marisa emailed us this past week and let us know that she started a job that she loves as an assistant to an executive in a large corporation. She is so excited! Here is part of what she said:

"This job will enable me to support Lexi on my own. But it would have never been possible if you didn't provide the resources I needed to escape Brazil and come home. Your help empowered me to go back to work after being dependent on my husband since Lexi was born. Once I get back on my feet I am going to donate to you so you can help other American women and children like me and Lexi."

We are so excited to see that Marisa is doing great!

Donations like yours helped Marisa & Lexi. This holiday season, please consider giving to help Angie bring Ava home safely so they too can live a life without abuse back home.
