Adjah Cancer Support Ghana aims to provide first aid kits to 20 schools in Ghana to help teachers respond to minor injuries and emergencies while arranging professional medical care when necessary. The project will prioritize schools with limited access to first aid supplies and work with appropriate partners to provide essential materials and basic guidance on their safe use.
Children can experience cuts, falls, nosebleeds, and other minor injuries while at school. However, some schools may lack adequately stocked first aid kits and essential supplies to respond promptly. Without suitable materials and trained personnel, minor incidents can become more difficult to manage, potentially affecting pupils' safety and well-being.
The project aims to provide appropriately stocked first aid kits to 20 schools in Ghana, based on assessed needs and available funding. Kits may contain adhesive dressings, sterile gauze, bandages, disposable gloves, antiseptic wound-care supplies, and other suitable essentials. ACSG will seek qualified health partners to provide guidance on safe first aid practices, appropriate emergency referrals, and the regular checking and replenishment of supplies.
Providing first aid kits to 20 schools will help improve access to essential first aid materials and strengthen school preparedness for minor injuries and emergencies. With appropriate guidance and regular replenishment, participating schools may be better equipped to respond promptly, protect pupils' well-being, and recognize situations that require professional medical attention.
