KEEPING THE BIG PICTURE IN FOCUS
As we draw closer to the culmination of the project, to Provide-Clean-Water-To-Over-1800-Nyamongeans, it is imperative to reiterate the primary objective to provide access to clean, safe drinking water.
A lot has transpired since the onset of the project. With direct funding and support from GlobalGiving, the college has drilled a borehole, installed a Solar Powered Pump, constructed an elevated Water Tower, and installed a Water Bottling Plant, which has been branded “Oceanic Bubbles.” This is depicted in Table 1. Goal of the Project. In keeping with the objective, to provide access to clean, safe drinking water, the college opted for a Water Bottling Plant, as opposed to the initial proposal of a Digital Water Kiosk. With the periodic assessment of the project, it was predicted that a Water Bottling Plant would be economically beneficial to the college in comparison to the Kiosk.
Besides the overarching outcome of access to clean, safe drinking water, the previous report outlined three direct outcomes including, the establishment of the College Garden, improved Food Security, and sustainability of the college environment.
Generally, we are pleased with the activity measure; for the 90% work completed, and the outcome measure; for the intended results achieved.
As the college expands its program offering, specifically in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), it is envisaged that the Oceanic Bubbles, the new bottling plant would be included in one of the technical courses offered at the college.
Moving forward, the college is committed to fostering a stronger relationship with the GlobalGiving Community, to achieve, and go beyond the goal for which the water project was started.
Through the project to Provide-Clean-Water-To-Over-1800-Nyamongeans, the college has managed to create a conducive environment for learning, and inculcated a campus-wide desire, for a culture of ownership and responsiveness.
