This project brings safe drinking water to over 5000 people in Goma, DR Congo, by building five clean water boreholes. Goma faces a severe water crisis; families rely on unsafe lake and rainwater. We focus on supporting women and children who are most affected by waterborne diseases. Our boreholes offer safe, nearby, and affordable water for health and dignity.
In Goma, DR Congo, most families lack clean water access. People drink from Lake Kivu, a volcanic lake contaminated with harmful microbes, gases, and bacteria. Rainwater is also unsafe. The result is widespread illness diarrhea, lung disease, cholera. Women and children are most affected, walking long distances daily or falling sick from drinking toxic water. Clean water is urgently needed.
We will drill five boreholes in key neighborhoods of Goma, providing direct access to safe, clean drinking water. Each borehole is solar-powered, affordable to maintain, and designed to serve 2,000+ people. This eliminates the need for long, dangerous walks to Lake Kivu, reduces disease, and restores health and safety to vulnerable families. Our local partners ensure sustainability through community training.
Access to clean water will drastically improve health, reduce mortality, and empower families especially women and children in Goma. Children can attend school instead of fetching water. Women gain time for work and family. The community becomes healthier, more resilient, and better equipped to build a brighter future. Clean water sparks a ripple effect of opportunity, dignity, and hope for generations.
