Summary: This proposal addresses the urgent issue of water scarcity in war-torn Yemen by providing clean and potable water to 5,000 displaced people in Sanaa Governorate. Objectives: a.Providing clean and safe drinking water access to impoverished Yemeni communities. b.Reducing waterborne diseases & improving overall health and well-being c.Promoting community involvement & ownership through capacity-building programs d.Ensuring the sustainability and long-term viability of water supply system.
Yemen remains one of the most water-scarce countries globally. Conflicts have had a strong impact on access to water and adequate sanitation services. In a country with a very dry to drought climate, Yemen's vulnerable war-affected communities face the additional challenge of lack of clean and potable water due to climate change. Waterborne diseases such as cholera, dengue, and malaria have spread all over Yemen. According to the UN, roughly 18 million people urgently need WASH assistance.
To address these challenges, SYS Team will: 1-Install Water Treatment Systems: Implement water treatment systems, such as filtration or purification units. 2-Provide clean water tanks to the affected people. 3-Raise Awareness and Provide Hygiene Education. This can help reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases and improve overall community health. 4-Provide hygiene kits to the targeted communities. 5- Develop a long-term plan for the sustainability of water supply systems.
By reviewing the previous data and explaining the suffering of many displaced families, the importance of the project becomes apparent, so we expect the project to improve the situation and health of 5000 targeted displaced people in Sana'a and alleviate their suffering by providing clean water that is valid for drinking and other uses. Moreover, this project will achieve the SDG6 (Clean Water and Sanitation).
