Safe Drinking Water Remains an Urgent Need for 1,000 Families
During this reporting period, the project was unable to secure online donations. Consequently, Good Thinkers Organization (GTO-Pakistan) could not provide water filtration facilities or other safe drinking water support to the targeted 1,000 vulnerable families in Kasur.
The need, however, remains extremely urgent—particularly among flood-affected families living in rural communities. Flooding and poor sanitation have contaminated local water sources, while poverty prevents many families from purchasing filtered water or adopting reliable household water-treatment solutions. As a result, people are often forced to consume unsafe water, placing children, women, older persons and people with weakened health at greater risk of diarrhoea and other waterborne illnesses.
Despite having no project funding, GTO-Pakistan continued sensitizing community members about the risks of contaminated water. Families were encouraged to boil drinking water or use properly filtered water whenever possible. However, many households cannot regularly boil water because of the cost of fuel and lack of resources.
Awareness alone cannot resolve this serious public health challenge. Donor support is urgently needed to help GTO-Pakistan provide safe drinking water solutions to 1,000 flood-affected and low-income families. Every contribution can help protect vulnerable families from preventable illness and ensure access to clean water—one of the most basic necessities of life.
