Many rural communities in flood-affected areas of Punjab, Pakistan lack access to safe drinking water. Contaminated underground water forces families to rely on unsafe sources, causing waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, and skin infections. This project will install deep water hand pumps and standard hand pumps in vulnerable villages and conduct community awareness sessions on clean drinking water and sanitation. The project will improve health, reduce disease, and provide safe water
Floods and poor infrastructure have contaminated water sources in many rural areas of Kasur. Families often use unsafe water from ponds or shallow wells, leading to diseases such as diarrhea and skin infections. Women and children travel long distances to collect water. Lack of awareness about safe water storage and sanitation further increases health risks.
The project will install deep hand pumps in areas with unsafe groundwater and standard hand pumps where water is safer. These water points will provide reliable access to clean drinking water. The project will also conduct community awareness sessions on hygiene, sanitation, and safe water use to help families protect their health.
Safe drinking water will reduce waterborne diseases and improve community health. Children will grow healthier and women will spend less time fetching water. Awareness on hygiene and sanitation will encourage better health practices. Over time, communities will enjoy improved well-being and a safer environment.
