GTO-Pakistan Advocates for the Dignity and Rights of Transgender Persons
Good Thinkers Organization-Pakistan (GTO-Pakistan) is leading vital advocacy efforts to protect the rights, dignity, and safety of the transgender community in Kasur and surrounding areas. In a society where transgender persons are often marginalized, harassed, and denied access to justice, GTO is standing up to ensure that no one is left behind.
GTO has been regularly holding formal meetings with government departments, including high-ranking police officials and social welfare representatives, to push for inclusive policies and protection mechanisms. In a landmark achievement, GTO held a direct advocacy meeting with the Head of District Police in Kasur, where the organization received a strong assurance of legal support and protection for the transgender community in cases of abuse, harassment, or violence.
GTO is working on;
Sensitizing law enforcement agencies about transgender rights,
Training trans-persons on how to file legal complaints in case of violence or discrimination,
And advocating with the Social Welfare Department to promote social acceptance and behavioral change across communities.
However, due to financial constraints, GTO is currently unable to organize public events, capacity-building workshops, legal aid sessions, and awareness campaigns that are desperately needed to create lasting impact.
