March 2026 Update: Malnourished Children in Haiti

By Trina Cubanski | Community Giving Associate

Dear Friend,

On behalf of all our staff and patients, thank you for your generous giving to Partners In Health! We are so grateful for your partnership as we continue to fight injustice and fortify health systems.

In Haiti, thousands of children continue to suffer from malnutrition. The issue is exacerbated by the violence and instability facing the country and the disruptions to our supply chain. Food prices have skyrocketed, and resources have become even further limited. Millions of Haitians have been displaced and medical facilities have been forced to close, further hampering the provision of essential health services.

Despite this, our commitment to providing lifesaving malnutrition treatment persists and and our logistics and supply chain teams are adapting to and working around these new and changing threats. ZL’s nutrition team continues to provide screening, treatment, and education. Mobile clinics and our network of highly trained community health workers have been critical to the program because they allow our teams to reach remote communities and identify malnourished children earlier. As a result, treatment can be delivered before health problems turn fatal. Community health workers also conduct follow-up visits with children to monitor treatment progress and connect them with additional care, if necessary.

Unfortunately, ihas become exceedingly challenging for our teams to travel with mobile clinics, as they face fuel shortages, violence, and unpredictable roadblocks that restrict the team’s movement. However, our nutrition team has perservered, finding ways to reach our patients at home–whether by rescheduling clinic visits or finding alternative routes.

Your support has allowed PIH to make sustained investments in health care infrastructure, in turn allowing us to weather crises and continue supporting patients in Haiti during these critical times. Because of you, ZL continues providing care and hope for the communities we serveThank you for being a part of this transformative work.

In Solidarity,

Partners In Health
