PROVIDE 66 ADOLESCENT MOTHERS WITH MILKING COWS

many unwed mothers who face unplanned pregnancies are subject to abuse, neglect, and malnutrition for themselves and their children. Cows, therefore, provide a sustainable income, create self-sufficiency for the single mother combat nutrient deficiency for the single mothers, and combat nutrient deficiencies for the children which leads to a healthy life for both mothers and children due to sustained income which provides health care and education opportunities.

those who benefitted from this project testified on how they improved their daily life in terms of health wise and economically. therefore, we do encourage all well-wishers and our tireless donors to continue supporting these young mothers because their number is beyond our capacity.

as the previous report indicated, we were supposed to give a cow to one of the beneficiaries in Mwogo Sector, Bugesera District. However, the Board meeting agreed on waiting for more funds and purchase more than one cow for many beneficiaries, and reduce the expenses. 

as I conclude, FPH can not get enough words to appreciate all donors who support its work. Without you, nothing could happen.

Teenage mothers' lives have been improving lately because of this project. As mentioned in the previous report two cows were meant to be delivered. One in Mwogo Sector and the second in Juru Sector, Bugesera District. We were able to obtain authorization from Juru sector local authorities. However, we are still waiting for the one from Mwogo Sector. That is why out of the two cows that we were able to purchase last time, we officially distributed one cow in Juru Sector.

The second cow will be handed over to the beneficiary once we get the approval of the remaining local authority in Mwogo Sector. We also hope to have bought more cows, if donations allow it. 

Attached are the pictures of the cow distributed in December 2022. We greatly appreciate the support of all donors and the support of GlobalGiving for availing of this platform. We still have a lot of cows to donate and keep how to secure more donations through this platform.

This project has a positive impact on the lives of teenage mothers. We were able to buy two additional cows but still waiting for the appointment of the local authorities to distribute them officially. another cow also gave birth. So far, eight cows have been purchased, six have been distributed and two of them have calved. We will share photos when we distribute the cows we purchased.

We sincerely thank all donors for their support because their supports are having positive impact on the lives of teenage mothers and their children. We continue to encourage donors to consider donating to this project.

We are thrilled that donors are contributing to the journey of Adolescent single mothers to sustainability. Among six cows distributed, one of them gave birth to a calf. All those  cows are in good health and the living conditions of the beneficiaries are improving.

"The sustainability journey is on the right track, I am grateful because the cow you gave me is now improving the lives of my whole family, we are enjoying the benefits of having a cow: me and my child can get enough milk to fight malnutrition, the family has manure to use in agriculture and earns money by selling extra milk”

When we wanted to buy three more cows, in the project area there was an epidemic of the disease attacking the cows and we were recommended to stop buying cows because the veterinarians were doing research to find a solution to treat the disease. We want our donors to understand that now the disease is no longer a major problem in that area because the vets have found the medicine. We want to make sure we buy cows as soon as possible to continue supporting adolescent single moms on their journey to sustainability.

This project aims to improve the livelihoods of 66 teenage mothers, their children, and their extended families. So far, the project has provided cows to 6 teenage mothers; the cows are beneficial to their whole families. Beneficiaries are very grateful to have a gift of life.

 At this reporting period, we were unable to provide additional cows as we decided to provide from 3+ cows, the money collected was not able to do so.
