Thank you so much for your support keeping vulnerable Cambodian children and their families safe from the risks posed by COVID-19. Your support during this time means more to us than you know.
At Cambodian Children's Fund, we are working hard to continue to respond to the challenges COVID-19 poses on the community we serve thanks to our generous supporters.
As Cambodia adapts to living with the risks of COVID-19 and develops a plan for students to return to school, supplying students and families with proper hygienic supplies remains crucial.
As of August 24th, Cambodia has had 273 reported cases of Covid-19, though, with testing and reporting challenges, the actual number of cases is anticipated to be higher.
Cambodia's restrictions upon international travelers entering the country remain quite specific, though with the recent Khmer New Year (postposed) week holiday and the upcoming Pchum Ben holiday, travel and movement within the country have increased, and CCF continues to closely monitor cases.
Students in grades 9 recently had their national exams-the 9th grade exams determine a student’s placement in upper secondary school, and the 12th grade exams double as university entrance exams for students who pass.
It has been and continues to be a priority to prepare students to succeed in these exams as safely and distanced as possible.
Of the 86 grade 9 students who took the exam in August, 85 passed- a 99% pass rate- a rate we are proud of given all the additional challenges of preparing and educating our students from a distance.
With guidance from the Cambodian Ministry of Education, grade 12 students will begin to study in small, distanced groups at our STEM facility so they are prepared for these significant exams.
The rest of the grades will remain distance learning until November when the Cambodian Ministry of Education anticipates schools will resume with precautions in place, though this may change.
We have continued to supply hand sanitizers, hand soap, and maintain hand-washing stations, taking temperatures of all staff, students, and community members before they enter CCF facilities, and ensuring families are equipped with masks.
Your donations have and will continue to allow us to ensure CCF students and families have the proper protective equipment necessary to prevent COVID-19, so they can continue to remain safe while continuing their education.
Thank you for your support!
We hope you and yours are remaining safe and healthy.
