Girls often protect themselves with rags / cartons in the country side. This creates problem of hygiene and they often do not go to school during their menstruation.

In camps for displaced people or refugees, organisation often provide disposable protections to women and girls. Those have several disadvantages:

- most of those disposable protection are made in China using recycled carton has absorbing material not really efficient. Women / girls who are using them develop medical problem such has white discharged.

- those protections are not degradable and fill the latrines.

- each month a woman (or a supporting organisation) has to invest close to 1US$ for a protection

With the washable protection kit provided by our project, women / girls are safely and comfortably protected. The protection last at least 2 years. The only drawback is that they have to wash the pads.

At the end of 2023 we have been able to produce over 12.000 of those kits.

Awareness meetings on menstruation are helping to break this taboo. It helps women / girls understand their body and help them to avoid unwanted pregnancy.

Girls using a washable protection kit have a better chance to succeed.

Help us help them.

Thank you.
