The indigenous communities of Ocosingo have high rates of poverty, few sources of employment and limited income. The few who have tried to improve their economy by developing enterprises have not been successful because they lack resources and knowledge that hinder their ability to contribute to the sustainable development of their community and make their enterprises a sustainable business.
This project seeks to economically empower young Tzeltal women through the promotion of local entrepreneurship. It will provide training in business skills, idea development and financial management, as well as establish a community support network.

Social Change: By taking active roles in the local economy, young women will promote greater gender equality in the community. Community Development: Local enterprises will strengthen the community economy, creating jobs and opportunities for other community members.
