Promoting inclusion for visually impaired women

As you now the GlobalGiving project “Promoting inclusion for visually impaired women” aimed at the Topos FC women's team "Topas", continues with the objectitve of strengthening the experience of the women's team, through the internal link between girl players and volunteers with the practice of 5-a-side football (blind football); and the performance of off-field dynamics to encourage greater participation and accompaniment among women.

From August to December 2022, the team continued to consolidate itself, through consistency in saturday training sessions, as well as social activities that are part of the organization's project's.

These are some of the achievements that happened throught this time:

1. The team continues to grow. Five new members were integrated, who experience blind football for the first time. This means that more and more women are interested in this sport.

2. The players also participated in community activities with other teams members and their families. This in order to strengthen ties, as well as to complement the sports part with social aspects. In some of these activities, topics such as mental health care, nutrition, body awereness, among other topics, could be addressed through workshops and recreational dynamics.

3. The team got a new uniform, wich included shorts, jersey and caps, wich were chosen by the players.

4. As part of the outreach efforts, one of the representative players of Topas FC was able to participate in a blind football camp for Latina women. Wich took place in Cordoba, Argentina, in november 2022. In this meeting, Luceth had the opportunity to meet more women who practice this sport, as well as experience new training methods and perceive from other perspectives, the way in which visually imaired woman live out their days.

New beginning

The global project aimed at the women's Topos FC team, intends to strengthen the experience of the women's team, through the internal link between girl players and volunteers with the practice of adapted soccer; and the performance of off-field dynamics to encourage greater participation and accompaniment among women.

Unfortunately, the COVID 21 pandemic that we have suffered worldwide meant a significant break for our activities on the court, but in this year 2022, we have returned with renewed energy and eager to make up for lost time.

Although we started this year with fewer players, we have carried out actions aimed at publicizing the project of our women's team and expanding the number of both players and volunteers who accompany our team on a weekly basis.

*Since the month of January of this year we have resumed the face-to-face training of our team in our field “La Madriguera”.
*In the month of March, commemorating women's month, we hosted the forum “Nos topas? Mujeres a nivel de cancha”, where Diana Coraza (ADECIPU paraathlete), Silvana Leiva (Researcher of the Somos Versus collective) and Ángeles Ortiz (Women´s Topos FC player), created a meeting space in which they shared their experiences of being a woman in sport, football and disability.
*In this first half of the year we also celebrate the arrival of Ricardo Bonet as the new coach of our women's team. Ricky has extensive experience in adapted soccer and is also the coach of the Mexican women's team.
*In the months of May and June, we carried out a campaign on social networks to attract talent, which resulted in the number of players on our team being able to double, in addition to the incorporation of Harumi and Marina, as volunteers. , providing knowledge, empathy and a lot of dynamism every Saturday on the court.
*Throughout this entire semester, the relationship in face-to-face training with the men's team has continued, to achieve collaborative learning spaces between men and women.

Coming?

*The premiere of sweatshirts and caps is coming for all our players, so that they proudly wear the Women´s Topos FC shield wherever they go.
*The participation of our women's team in the activities of World Game Day is coming, which will take place in La Madriguera on August 27, where they will share their skills, their energy and their joy with the rest of our community.
*For the month of September, it is expected that our girls will play a match against their counterpart from Jalisco, in which they will debut their new uniforms, which were chosen by them.
*Another of our great goals for the second semester is that our women's team continues to grow, both on and off the field, with more players, more volunteers, more technical staff, more friends and family.

November 20

The GlobalGiving project “Promoting inclusion for visually impaired women” aimed at the Topos FC women's team "Topas", intends to strengthen the experience of the women's team, through the internal link between girl players and volunteers with the practice of football 5-a-side (blind football); and the performance of off-field dynamics to encourage greater participation and accompaniment among women.

Online training was stopped due to the possibilities allowed by the drop in cases in the pandemic at the end of last year.
During October and November 2021, the relationship continued in face-to-face training with the men's team, to achieve collaborative learning spaces between men and women.
The women's team actively participated in the start-up activities of La Madriguera Topos FC, the Topos community's own field.
November 20, The women's team participated in the creation of a collective mural to give color to the new court.
November 27, kick-off event at Madriguera Topos FC.
December 18, End of the year event with recreational activities with the three categories, women's, children's and men's.

What´s Coming?

11. The projects were stopped due to the new covid wave, now they were passed to carry out in March, the month of women.

2. Organize a virtual forum to reflect among all, on the presence of women in sports, soccer for people with blindness and disability.

3. In a second moment, it seeks to generate a meeting space with a women's match between Topas Puebla and Leonas Jalisco.
