Dear GlobalGiving Donors and Supporters,
Your generosity is helping save lives in Yemen. Your support protects vulnerable families from preventable diseases and brings essential assistance to communities facing an increasingly severe public health crisis. On behalf of the Support Yemeni Society Organization, we extend our deepest gratitude for your continued commitment to our project, "FIGHT CHOLERA AND SAVE YEMENI LIVES.
Every contribution to this project represents more than financial support.
It helps turn prevention into protection, awareness into action, and essential health supplies into a lifeline for vulnerable families.
Yemen’s Continuing Health Crisis
Communities across Yemen continue to face serious outbreaks of communicable and waterborne diseases. Dengue fever, malaria, cholera, measles, typhoid, and other illnesses remain a major threat, particularly for displaced families, children, and communities with limited access to safe water, sanitation, and healthcare.
Reported disease figures during 2026 illustrate the seriousness of the situation:
Dengue Fever: More than 9,604 cases and 37 deaths have been reported, with significant transmission in several governorates. Rainfall and stagnant water continue to create favorable conditions for mosquito breeding.
Malaria: Nearly 140,000 suspected cases, including approximately 26,000 confirmed infections, have been reported since the beginning of 2026, with communities in coastal and lowland areas facing particularly high risks.
Cholera: Approximately 7,784 suspected cases and 22 deaths have been reported, highlighting the continuing danger created by unsafe water and inadequate sanitation.
Measles: More than 22,000 suspected cases and 128 deaths have been reported, further increasing pressure on already vulnerable communities and health services.
Typhoid and Paratyphoid: These diseases remain a concern, especially where families rely on unsafe or contaminated food and water sources.
Behind every statistic is a person—a child, a mother, a father, or an entire family struggling to remain safe and healthy. This is why your support matters.
Your Contributions Are Turning Concern into Action
Thanks to your generosity, SYS continues working directly with vulnerable communities to prevent disease, strengthen awareness, provide essential hygiene supplies, and support frontline health services.
1. Protecting Communities Through Health Awareness
SYS, in collaboration with local organizations, conducted community awareness activities in Sana’a, with particular attention to schoolchildren and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Students and vulnerable community members received practical information on personal hygiene, safe water practices, and measures they can take to protect themselves and their families from cholera, dengue fever, and other preventable diseases.
Educational flyers and brochures were also distributed to reinforce these important messages.
Your support is helping people gain something powerful: the knowledge to protect themselves before illness strikes.
2. Delivering Essential Hygiene and Prevention Supplies
Despite difficult operating and logistical conditions, SYS secured and distributed essential hygiene and disease-prevention supplies to 20 vulnerable rural families in Sana’a.
The assistance included soap, chlorine, and oral rehydration solution (ORS)—simple but critical supplies that can help families maintain hygiene, make water safer, and respond quickly to dehydration caused by acute diarrheal diseases.
For vulnerable families with limited resources, these supplies can make a critical difference between exposure and protection.
3. Strengthening Frontline Health Response
SYS is also working to support primary healthcare facilities receiving patients suffering from cholera and acute diarrheal illnesses.
Our efforts focus on helping maintain access to essential supplies, particularly intravenous fluids (IV fluids) and oral rehydration solution (ORS), which are vital for treating severe dehydration.
Your generosity therefore reaches beyond individual households—it contributes to strengthening the frontline response for communities facing disease outbreaks.
You Are Part of Every Life We Reach
None of these efforts would be possible without you.
When you donate, you help a family protect its drinking water.
You help a child learn how to prevent disease.
You help provide essential hygiene supplies to vulnerable households.
You help frontline health workers respond to patients suffering from severe dehydration.
Most importantly, you help give vulnerable Yemenis a better chance to stay healthy and survive.
Empowering Change Together:
Your continued support is crucial in our fight against cholera in Yemen. We encourage you to contact Mr. Ahmed Al-Qadhi at alhosam82@gmail.com for further updates and information.
