Prevent Trafficking: Educate 130 Thai Children

Summary

GRACE exists to eradicate the vulnerabilities of illiteracy & poverty of at-risk children in Pattaya and Korat, Thailand. Pattaya is known as the capital of sex trafficking of minors and many migrate from the Korat area to Pattaya. We provide educational, nutritional and wellness support through Family Resource Centers, where our programs for children and adults promote safe and enhanced learning opportunities. Donations directly impact many impoverished families through preventative resources.

Challenge

Pattaya is the global leader in sex trafficking of minors. Thailand has a population of more than 6.4 million children ages 5-14 with more than 1.3 million children not attending school. Children of impoverished families are vulnerable to trafficking in the sex and labor industries. Thailand scored low in global PISA testing (reading, math, science). The risk is increased with the combination of poverty and illiteracy. GRACE provides 70 at-risk children with educational and nutritional support.

Solution

The GRACE Family Resource Center FRC is strategically located to reach the impoverished families residing in Pattaya and Korat,Thailand. The FRC's provides for families to participate in after-school programs with homework assistance and tutoring, English language (taught by native English speakers), reading, creativity and more. Life skill classes provided for parents/guardians include financial mgmt, parenting, wellness, social skills, and more. Education eradicates vulnerabilities.

Long-Term Impact

We will provide 130 children and their parents/guardians with educational, nutritional and wellness support. The provision of basic food staples helps to eradicate hunger for impoverished families. Our English curriculum of three phases lasts six years. Educational assistance provides global commerce language skills for the next generation affording them the opportunity for advanced education (i.e. university), better career opportunities, and attainable relief from generational poverty.
