Community Tech Grant
In February we opened applications for the 2025 PowerOn Community Tech Grant. The PowerOn Community Tech Grant was designed to meet the tech needs of our PowerOn Partner Centers. With a deeper understanding of the critical reliance on technology for center operations and client resources, this grant provides the technology necessary to support community centers and their staff in their work serving the LGBTQ+ community.
We received a record 156 applications from qualifying LGBTQ+ organizations this year, requesting a total of $447,731 worth of technology grants. After a very competitive application review process, we selected 45 centers from 21 states and territories to receive a PowerOn Community Tech Grant. We are currently in the process of distributing grants and will be granting approximately $128,020 worth of technology. All Community Tech Grant recipients will receive a copy of our Digital Navigator Cyber Safety Guidebook to empower grantees to implement online safety best practices with their granted technology.
Individual Tech Grant
The PowerOn Individual Tech Grant provides life-saving and life-changing technology (cell phones, tablets, and laptops) to LGBTQ+ individuals for personal use. A phone, tablet, or laptop is essential for completing schoolwork, applying for jobs, staying in touch with friends and family, and accessing vital online services like healthcare. While essential, these devices are often out of reach for many. PowerOn's Individual Tech Grant provides the LGBTQ+ community with the technology it needs to survive and thrive.
On June 10th we opened applications for the first round of PowerOn Individual Tech Grants for 2025.The application period will run through July 10th. Grant decisions will be announced in September. We will hold two informational webinars in June for prospective applicants and PowerOn Referral Partners.
More information on the Individual Tech Grant, including eligibility requirements and the application link, is available at poweronlgbt.org.
