PATHS empowers LGBTQ+ youth and young adults to explore and thrive in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) careers. Through mentorship, storytelling, and financial support, PATHS helps break down systemic barriers and build a more inclusive future in STEAM fields. With your support, we can connect queer youth with role models, fund their education, and guide them on their journey.
LGBTQ+ people are 17-21% less represented in STEM fields when compared to the percentage of the U.S. population that identifies at LGBTQ+. Over 40% of LGBTQ+ STEM professionals report workplace stress and health issues at higher rates than non-LGBT peers. Nearly half aren't out at work, and 47% have faced professional devaluation, compared to 38% of non-LGBT peers. These barriers discourage LGBTQ+ youth from entering STEAM careers where their presence and perspectives are needed.
PATHS supports LGBTQ+ youth in STEAM through mentorship, storytelling, and financial aid. We feature LGBTQ+ STEAM professionals to increase visibility, connect youth with affirming mentors, and provide grants up to $5,000 to remove financial barriers. PATHS builds community, fosters belonging, and empowers LGBTQ+ individuals to pursue and thrive in STEAM careers.
