The life of LGBTIQ indivuals is Tanzania is as stake, because of routine attacks that are normally done on the streets even during day time.

One member of LGBT Voice was attacked on Friday by two merciless homophobic people, who wanted to kill him just because he is Gay. They seriouly beat him, sturbed him with a knife before a good Samaritan recued him from these Homophobic killers,

The case was reported at one of the police stations but till tis day no action has been taken, the attackers are still on the streets and they can attack him or attack any other Gay.

Thise is the main reason why we need to collect evindence of Homophobic, violence and harassment that take play everyday in Tanzania mainland and  Zanzibar, these kind of violence takes place acrros the country but the incidences remains un reported due to fear of more harrasment and also poor means of communication. The survivors are always afraid because they are sometimes threatened to be killed. These this do happen, in schools, health facilities, homes,in the bussiness and even landlords are among attackers.

Evidences gathered and well  documented will be the only  tool that can be used to  advocacy for LGBT rights in Tanzania, before the policy makers and law enforcers because they seem to be blind of what is happening in the country.

Please continue heping us till we reach our goal so that we can be able to acomplish this important project that will change the lives of LGBT people in Tanzania and beyond.

We are thrilled with all the support you are giving us through the last seven Months, you help us raise $4,011.49 out of the total budget of $21,200.

Our partners have already finished designing the survey questionier and we are now translating it in Swahili so that it can be user friendly to most interviewers because most of them do not understand english. Also the Materials for training the staff on how to  conduct the survey project and deal with secondary trauma and post traumatic stress are ready and the training will be held for three days  concecutive days Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week.

Phase one of project will start on 24th June buy conduction the pilot project in Dar es salaam and Tanga, the results of the pilot project will guide us in the second phase of the project which will cover the other six regions namely Arusha, Unguja, Mwanza,Iringa, Mbeya and Morogoro.

I would like to make a special apeal to all of our supporters and welwishers to continue supporting us because we still have a big work ahead of us but the funds we have raised sor far is just a quater of the total budget. We still need your help for the success of this project

We are thrilled with all the support you are giving to this project, LGBT VOICE Tanzania is still waiting to raise enough funds so to conduct the survey.

It is very importnt that we conduct this survey to understand the needs and challenges facing LGBT individuals in Tanzania so that we can get evidences of incidences of human rights violation based on sex orientation and gender identity, the documentation of these incidences will help LGBT VOICE Tanzania to advocate for changes in Laws and policies that contribute to the increase of Homophobia in Tanzania.

The fact remains that without facts about the incidences of human rights violation in Tanzania, LGBT VOICE Tanzania will still find it difficult  advocating  for equality and Justice.

We therefore apeal to you all, to continue supporting this project so that we can be able to conduct this survey that will open a way  and the fure for LGBT Tanzanians.

Thanks for your continued support,

Bertha Nyanda

On 9 th December Tanzania Celebrated  52 years of indipendance but LGBT Tanzanians are wanted criminals just because of ther sex orientation and gender identity. The rights of LGBT people are violated everyday because  there is no law or policy that protect them. Each year thousands of Gay men have surfer toture, some of them die in the hands of merciless homophobic people, LGBT youth are dinied to access eduction and many more.

We comemorate the World Human Rights Day with sorrow and fear of arrests from the police, eviction from our homes, losing our jobs, denial to access quality health services and even being mudered by those who do not care about us.

There is a great need of documenting incidences of LGBT rights violations in Tanzania, so that we can be able to hold our governments accountable.
