The kids of 10 play schools of Ruchika appeared their annual exam in the second week of March. They were given their math, English, conversation, art, rhyme test. At that time they were very confident. At the time of admission and after one year there was a very drastic change with their behavior, conversation, reading, writing style. In school these slum kids behavior are different from other children of slums. They were maintaining their hygiene, sitting posture all these things.

These kids also celebrate our special days like Independence day, Republic day in this year (2019-2020). All these days were celebrated in their slum. They also sing the national anthem in our school. We also celebrate 14th November, childrens day. All kids were participate in this programme .we all are very happy to be a part of this.
Aakash (not his real name) is around 4 years old. He is the second child of his parent. He has got an ender sister also. His father is a daily laborer and the family is living in a thatched house in Bharatpur slum, Bhubaneswar. His mother is also working as housemaid in nearby apartments to support the family. In this situation, giving education to both the children was a hard task for the poor parents. When they came to know about Ruchika Play School in their slum, his mother immediately enrolled Aakash. At first he was very apprehensive and started crying after his mother left him at the Play School. But, the teaching in joyful methods, songs, dance, games, stories etc. and loving and caring behavior of the teachers appealed Aakash very much. Now he is not interested to go home after the class. He is very good in songs and dance. He is a bright student and his mother is very happy now. She is planning to admit him in government primary school next year.
Lucy (not her real name) is around 5 years old girl and the third daughter of her parents. Her father is a daily laborer. They are living in a thatched house in the slum and due to acute poverty it is not possible for her father to meet the expenses of education for her three girls. When Ruchika opened free Play Schools in the slums. Her mother immediately admit her in the Play school where she learned numbers, alphabets through joyful methods by song, dance, story telling, games. She also learned many rhymes and recognizes birds, animals, different colors, vehicles etc. She is very bright in studies. This year she is enrolled in Class-I in the Vivekananda Shikya Kendra (formal school). Her parents are very happy for their daughter.
