Dear Patrons,
RWAYDAVO is pleased to provide an update on the eucalyptus tree plantation established on our hillside land in Buyoga, Rwanda (Location: 72HH+PCP).
Following regular monitoring and assessment of the approximately 9,500 eucalyptus saplings planted during our reforestation campaign, we are delighted to report that the plantation is progressing well. Current evaluations indicate a survival rate of approximately 99%, demonstrating the effectiveness of the planting methods used and the commitment of community members, volunteers, and supporters involved in this initiative.
Approximately 1% of the saplings did not survive due to normal establishment challenges and environmental factors. To maintain the planned tree density and ensure the long-term success of the plantation, RWAYDAVO has scheduled a replacement planting exercise during the September short rainy season, when favorable moisture conditions will support the successful establishment of new seedlings.
The trees continue to contribute to soil conservation, erosion control, environmental restoration, carbon sequestration, and increased climate resilience within the community. Monitoring and maintenance activities will continue throughout the coming months to support healthy growth and maximize the project's impact.
On behalf of RWAYDAVO, I extend my sincere gratitude to all patrons, donors, volunteers, and community members whose support has made this achievement possible. Your partnership is helping create a greener and more sustainable future for the people of Buyoga and surrounding communities.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana
President, RWAYDAVO (Rwandan Youth Development and Voluntary Organization)
