From Seeds to Saplings: A Step Closer to 50,000

By Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana | Project Leader

Dear Patrons,

I am delighted to share a promising update from our nurseries in Rulindo District. One month after our last report, the eucalyptus saplings are flourishing remarkably well (see attached photos). Their vigorous growth reflects the success of our nurturing efforts and brings us one step closer to achieving our ambitious goal of planting and maintaining 50,000 trees across six sectors in Rulindo District.

Healthy Growth and Strong Progress

Through consistent watering, proper shading, and enriched soil care, the seedlings have grown stronger and more resilient. This steady progress sets a solid foundation for their successful transplantation in the upcoming planting season.

Why This Matters

Each sapling represents more than just a tree. It stands for:

  • Restored forests that combat deforestation

  • Protected soils that prevent erosion

  • Climate resilience for vulnerable communities

  • Sustainable livelihoods for local families

Your support is helping to create real, lasting change in Rwanda’s rural landscapes.

How You Can Help Sustain This Momentum

This progress is possible only because of your generosity. To ensure these seedlings thrive into mature, life-giving trees, we kindly invite you to continue your support. Regular contributions—of any size—help us:

  • Maintain and care for the nurseries until transplantation

  • Mobilize community members and schools for active participation

  • Guarantee long-term tree survival through follow-up care and monitoring

Together, We Are Planting the Future

On behalf of RWAYDAVO and the communities of Rulindo, I extend my heartfelt thanks for your continued commitment. Your partnership is transforming these saplings into resilient forests that will protect the land and empower generations to come.

With sincere gratitude,
Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana
President, RWAYDAVO
