As we ramp of for this year’s PeaceJam activities we have been meeting with partners and donors, trying to secure additional funding for the 2019 conference and the programming.
At the same time, last year’s participants have been doing dynamic activities for their communities. A key part of PeaceJam, is young people learning to give back to their communities by developing and implementing service projects. During the last few months, around 50 of the 2018 PeaceJam program participants (whom are also involved in our Inspiring Young Changemakers project), have been creating theater pieces around issues that they found in their community and conducting performances in their areas to impact audiences on topics of domestic violence prevention and child protection. Six performances took place in market places, village centers and schools in Maliana and another 6 in Covalima municipality. An additional 15 young people collaborated with community leaders to plant trees, and others cleaned up public areas.
How can you help?
Please take the time to share the opportunity to support this important project with your friends and family!
Together we can make PeaceJam 2019 happen in Timor-Leste, empowering some of the world’s most impoverished and marginalized youth!
