Sagheer:
Sagheer is 12 years old. He is the middle child among 5 siblings. His father is a garbage collector and his mother is a housewife. His mother use to segregate the garbage which his father collects from the outside the whole day and dump it at home. His mother after doing household chores segregates the waste and wraps it. It took half of her day to help his husband with his work.
He belongs to a very low-income group, and he mentioned that many times he came to school without breakfast, sometimes his family didn’t get food at night time.
His performance in school is satisfactory. During the COVID, his father didn’t want him to continue his studies. He took him and his younger brother along with himself with his work. He took a chance to report his school principal about it. The principal called a meeting of both parents and convinced them about the issue. She also told them that child labor is illegal as per law. The family was convinced after two sessions.
This courage was provided by the school and the sessions conducted on several social issues, with mothers and children.
Sagheer wanted to become an Army officer in the future.
Staff Meeting
The staff meeting was held to plan the strategies for the midterm examination of the students. It has been observed that during the COVID-19 and the school schedules given on the Government’s instructions and notifications, the students are lacking behind in their studies. The students were serving as unpaid family help and were out of the focus from studies.
COVID SOPs session:
The session was held with the students on COVID SOPs, the objective of the session was to remind the students of COVID protocols and remind them of the previous sessions so that they can recall and remember the SOPS.
Mid Term Examinations:
Mid-term examinations were held in the school. The examinations were based on the curriculum shared with the parents. The syllabus was on the fast track and the studies were given home tests before the examinations.
Campaign for COVID-19 Vaccination
A regular campaign is being done by the school staff on a voluntary basis to ensure that all the parents and the students are fully vaccinated.
