Land for Use in Agricultural Project
Land for Use in Agricultural Project

SACCODE-Trust’s management team continues to look at ways to help the children in several poverty stricken communities of Malawi. We are generating jobs and delivering food and educational materials

We address the real issues in these communities as quoted from a Choma community learder: “We hope you are going to come back and in time because lots of Donors promise but they don’t implement in time or come back at all”, a strong comment from Group Headman for 5 Villages in Choma, Mr. Chimaliro.

Below describes a project being executed by SACCODE-Trust in the Choma community.

- A 12.5 hectare piece of farm land was sold to SACCODE-Trust at the cost of Mk 400,000.00 - One village headman by the name of Mr. Samani Chiumia benefitted since he was the owner of the piece of land after inheriting it from his late father. - Some community elders and tenants have been employed to cultivate the piece of land and they are being paid Mk 5000.00/USD40 per person per hectare. - The piece of land is going to be used for growing corn to feed OVCs in Choma community. - Sales from corn to be produced shall be used to sustain better educational standards at a school in Choma community area. - 3 goats and 2 pigs need to be kept on the same piece of land for future near term sales.

EXPENSES; 1. Cost of buying the land = MK 406,000.00/ USD2,900.00 2. Cost of preparing the land = MK 70,000.00/ USD500.00 3. Cost of buying corn seed for planting = MK 50,000.00/ USD400.00 4. Cost of buying fertilizer = MK 240,000.00/ USD1,800.00 5. Cost of first weeding on the field = MK 42,000.00/ USD300 6. Cost of second weeding on the field = MK 42,000.00/ USD300 7. Cost of harvesting the corn = MK 28,000.00/ USD200

Total in Malawi Kwacha = MK 878,000.00

Total in US Dollars = USD 6,400.00
