#OperationHope: African Health Now plans to provide prenatal and postpartum health education, support access, and engagement in maternal health and reproductive services to 200 expecting mothers through their Pregnancy School Program initiative. Furthermore, AHN will support Madina Polyclinic with medical equipment, supplies for new mothers and babies' during their first few weeks, and funds to cover essential medical expenses (Blood tests, vaccinations, ambulance transportation, etc.)
Access to maternal health and reproductive services in Ghana has been challenging for expectant mothers from low-income households. African Health Now and the Madina Polyclinic, through the Pregnancy School Program Initiative, will support at least 200 expecting mothers to access these services to support a healthy pregnancy and delivery through health education and improve engagement in maternal and reproductive health services through referral and linkage services.
#OperationHope is the newest campaign to raise money to purchase critical medical equipment for the Madina Polyclinic, such as blood pressure machines and doppler machines, support the purchase of supplies for the pregnancy school program, and the purchase of hygiene products and essential items for AHN's Maternity-Go-Boxes. The funds raised will also support the "Emergency Fund" Program, for the women at the clinic who are uninsured to pay for lab fees, diagnostic testing, and copayments.
The project will educate 200 expectant mothers, working toward decreasing maternal and infant mortality in Ghana, increasing survival and promotion of health and wellbeing of expecting mothers and their infants. Educated expectant mothers will support healthy early child development, and as a result, aiding the support of a healthier and stronger community.
