The One Million Leaders Project has been doing tremendously well and making a difference in the lives of young people and their communities from different corners of the world. Here are brief reports of 2024 success stories in the four regions where OML exists.
OML Africa received over 15,000 application from young Africans for the 2024 Fellowship cohort, meanwhile, only 200 of the applicants were found eligible and admitted into the fellowship in April 2024. After three months intensive online training on leadership, sustainability, social entrepreneurship and social innovation, they reached out to other young and passionate change makers in their communities and stepped down training to them. In August 2024, 22 innovative projects from the Fellows were funded with a micro-grant, after rigorous screening have been carried out on project proposals developed by OMLA Fellows and their Champions that address problems in their communities. OML MENA Fellowship 2024
For the 2024 cohort, we received 175 applications and accepted 30 fellows, out of which 25 successfully completed Phase One of the fellowship. These fellows then extended their impact by training over 300 champions across nine countries in North Africa and West Asia.
In Phase Three, the fellows, in collaboration with their champions, are executing 10 innovative community projects across various impactful themes, from circular economy to social justice.
As we progress toward Phase Three, “Time for Action,” these projects showcase the fellows' dedication to tackling pressing social and environmental issues in the MENA region. The OML MENA Fellowship is proud to support their efforts as they continue to bring about meaningful change.
