Project Report | Jul 6, 2026
Young Leaders Creating Local Solutions

By Mary Afolabi | OML Team Member

Thanks to your generous support, the One Million Leaders (OML) Fellowship continues to empower emerging leaders across Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle East & North Africa. This reporting period marked significant growth, with 4,914 applications from 96 countries and 690 Fellows selected from 76 countries, reflecting the increasing demand for leadership and sustainability education.

Africa

OMLA welcomed 184 Fellows from 20 African countries, who are now developing the leadership and sustainability skills needed to create change in their communities. Beyond the Fellowship, the Green Guardians programme expanded to 65 schools, OMLA Clubs grew to over 300 student members, and more than 400 young people completed practical agribusiness training through the AgroReach E-Learning Launchpad.

Asia-Pacific

OMLAS launched its 2026 Fellowship with 115 Fellows from 20 countries, bringing together young leaders working on climate resilience, education, health, technology, and community development. Alumni are already putting their learning into practice—launching women-led renewable energy projects in Bangladesh, building community-based waste management systems in India, mentoring youth leaders in Nepal, and applying leadership skills to improve healthcare, nutrition, and education across the region.

Latin America

OMLATAM welcomed 200 Fellows from 19 countries after receiving more than 1,150 applications. Participants have completed intensive learning sessions on leadership, sustainability, social entrepreneurship, and systems thinking while building a strong regional network of changemakers. Fellows continue to describe the programme as both a valuable learning experience and a supportive community during a time of social and environmental challenges across the region.

Middle East & North Africa

In Tunisia, OML MENA co-organised the Youth Forum for a Sustainable Future, bringing together around 150 young people, policymakers, and experts to develop practical recommendations on sustainability and youth employment. The ideas generated during the forum are now being consolidated into a Youth White Paper, while preparations are already underway for the next regional forum in Morocco.

Thank You

Your support is helping build a global network of ethical and purpose-driven leaders who are tackling real challenges in their communities. As Fellows transition into mentoring the next generation of young Champions, the impact of your investment continues to multiply across regions. Thank you for making this journey possible.
