Three touching stories you helped write

Hello guys!

I have not brought you any news for some time because the activities at APAE are at full steam! But today, I would like to share with you the thrilling stories of 3 attendees related to the Outdoor Gym!

The first story is from Deise, a 33-year-old girl with intellectual disability and reduced mobility, who needs a walker and a wheelchair to get around. Seeing the Outdoor Gym ready for use, Deise looked for physiotherapist Carol and asked: "Can I try to ride the bike?" With the physical evaluations properly carried out, Carol put Deise on the bike and, to everyone’s surprise, she managed to pedal! Deise expressed her joy as follows: "I was able to do the exercise! I may have my limitations, but I'm hardworking and that's why I got to ride "! I want to tell my mother I got it! "

Another story that touches our hearts is Daniel’s, a young man of 31, also intellectually deficient and with some physical limitations that made it difficult for him to perform apparently simple tasks, such as putting on his sneakers. Physiotherapist Carol proudly tells us: "In the first contacts that Daniel had with the gym equipment, one of his difficulties was to keep his balance, but gradually he has overcome this barrier." Recently, he told her: "I'm very happy because I can manage to put my tennis shoes on my own and my mother is very proud of me!"

Finally, the story of Milton, 60 years, with intellectual and visual deficiency. According to Carol, he loves outdoor activities, so much so that the day before that scheduled for monitored physical exercises, he asks, "Today we're going to do the exercises in which equipment?" For Carol, the diversity of available equipment in the Outdoor Gym and the contact with the nature and the heat of the sun are all important factors to motivate this group of people to do physical exercises.

Carol says: "As a professional, I am very grateful and happy to be able to count on this Gym as a resource to help our assisted expand their physical, social and mental development possibilities and guarantee them a better quality of life."

I could not help sharing these among many other stories you are helping to rewrite, thanks to the Outdoor Gym. Thank you, with all my heart, for your contributions and please, continue to spread the word about this beautiful project!

Sincerely yours,

Celi - Project leader.
