Project Report | May 7, 2026
Your support improved nutrition for children

By Justina George | Senior Supervisor

During one of our recent nutrition education sessions, our team met a young mother who spoke about how difficult it had become to provide nutritious meals for her children due to the rising cost of food. She explained that most days, meals were reduced to whatever was available and filling, rather than what was nutritious. After being onboarded to the NUMEPLAN program, she began attending our nutrition education sessions, where she learned practical ways to combine affordable local foods to improve her children’s diet. Weeks later, she returned smiling as she shared that her child had become more active, was eating better, and had started gaining healthy weight again.

Since our last report, Lagos Food Bank Initiative has continued implementing nutrition support activities for vulnerable mothers and children across underserved communities in Lagos. Through the NUMEPLAN program, we carried out nutrition and hygiene education sessions, and routine follow-ups for children at risk of malnutrition. During this reporting period, we directly supported over 128 children by working with Primary health care centres through nutrition assistance and household food support.

Thank you for continuing to stand with vulnerable families and helping us bring nourishment, dignity, and hope to communities that need it most.
