Inspiring Journey of Menstrual Health Advocates

By Shilpa Lamichhane | Program Manager

Our Sarathis who were trained on ‘Menstrual Health Management’ have been continuing conducting workshops at their full fledge on different facets of menstrual health and hygiene management. Along with their workshops among adolescents being continued in schools across Kathmandu valley, within this time period they have also organized sessions among people with disabilities with focus on visually impaired students and also conducted workshops in orphanages. They have been covering the topic from Anatomy to Physiology to social topics like Role of Men in menstruation, busting the myths around menstruation and also examining infrastructure for Menstrual Health Friendly School.

Further, they distributed a choice kit which includes reusable pad, disposable pads, menstrual cup and a sanitizer among students from marginalized group. A manual developed by Visible Impact which is also developed in braille were also distributed to institution’s library.

With the received funds, we have been providing the transportation and lunch cost to our Sarathis who have been voluntarily contributing their time to work on this cause. The cost also covers the expenses of stationeries used during the workshops. It is because of the funds we receive, we’re being able to continue our activism, mobilize and empower the young people. Also, this term we were able to reach marginalized youth and include them in our journey as well. Along with the workshops, they have also been sharing their experiences and thoughts on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Gender Equality through their blogs which is available in our website for a read.

With this kind and continuous support, Visible Impact team and our Sarathis are more motivated to work for the cause, raise awareness placing our youths at the forefront.
