As you all know, our four legged canine companions have no HVAC heating and cooling system. The floor heat that is provided keeps the floor warm but cannot provide a comfortable living space where they sleep and live. This last summer, our outdoor temperatures went as high as 103 degrees, so you can only imagine how difficult it was to keep our dogs cool. The staff worked so incredibly hard cooling the dogs by using blocks of ice, swimming pools, hosing the pups down with sprinklers and having fans running non-stop.
In the winter we are not able to keep tiny dogs in the dog kennel area. Small dogs like our little chihuahua's need a central heating system to keep them warm. We sometimes set up kennels in our lobby offices so they stay warm and comfortable.
I am very excited to announce that phase 1 of our project is almost completed. The duct work is installed, the gas line is set, and the rebarb is in ready for the concrete. We are now waiting on the actual unit that will be arriving in November. We are still in need of funding for Phase 2 & 3 of our HVAC System.
With your support we continue to improve our shelter and the care we are able to provide the animals.
Thank you for your generostiy and kindness.
Here at Newberg Animal Shelter, our four legged canine companions have no HVAC heating and cooling system. The floor heat that is provided keeps the floor warm but cannot provide a comfortable living space where they sleep and live. In the summer of 2021, our outdoor temperatures went as high as 113 degrees, so you can only imagine how difficult it was to keep our dogs cool.
After many years of hot summers and cold winters for our dogs, we now have secured the funding to complete our HVAC system and include the dog kennel area. Once the system is installed, our canine friends will be cool in the summer and warm in the winter months.
With your support we continue to improve our shelter and the care we are able to provide the animals.
Thank you for your generostiy and kindness.
We are thrilled that spring is appearing at the animal shelter. There's plants coming up in our garden and kittens being born. We are ready to take on hundreds of kittens, thanks to our Volunteers and Foster Care Program. We expect several hundred kittens this spring.
It's a good time to remind the community, please spay or neuter your pets.
One of our spring projects is the Meet-n-Greet Park and hopefully it will be finished before summer. This Park is where potential adopters meet new companions in a safe and protected outdoor environment. It will encourage proper introductions and a safe play area for dogs meeting a new family or other dogs.
Your donations have had an impact on animal enrichment and care at the Newberg Animal Shelter. Please consider purchasing a Commemorative Brick or Paver to make the pathways to the Meet-n-Greet Park. This is a great way to honor friends, loved ones or pets, and make an impact in the lives of the shelter animals.
Thank you for your generosity and kindness to the animals,
The animals are getting ready for the howlidays! We've got Photos with Santa, Holiday Baazars and Giving Trees. It's a great time at the shelter and very busy. Especially since our lobby is getting a makeover and cats are getting new cages. We will be whisker-licking clean for the holidays.
We appreciate your support over this past year. Over 1000 animals have been adopted from the shelter to-date. That's incredible for our small shelter. We couldn't do this without your support.
Thank you for giving many pets a 'second chance' for a forever home.
We hope you have a great holiday season and remember your best friends in your givng.
Happy Howlidays to you!
It's been a long couple of years and the shelter has been "open by appointment" during our Covid crisis. We are gearing up for business as usual, within the next few weeks.
This is a busy time of year for all shelters, it's time for puppies and kittens. We have over 100 kittens at foster homes. Some of the kittens are bottle fed, while some are fortunate to have their mama's taking care of their needs.
We appreciate the response we receive from our Facebook postings about specific animal needs. We've received help with food and medical care for all of our kittens. We couldn't do this without your support.
One of our current projects is designing and creating an outdoor Meet-n-Greet safe area for adoptable dogs to meet potential adopters and any dogs currently in their family. This project is important to the shelter animals because new introductions can be successful if done properly.
We have many challenges during the course of the year and we appreciate our donors and community for following us on our journey and lending aid whenever we're in need.
We'll continue to keep you posted on our growth and progress.
Thank you for your many donations!
