Fundación Leer will develop community capacity to build a Reading Corner, a free and attractive library full of new and culturally approppriate books for 210 at risk children and their families.
A Reading Corner will be built at a rural school located in Uquía, Province of Jujuy, Argentina, benefiting 210 at risk kids and their families. These low resource households have poor access to health/educational services and literacy materials. Fundación Leer will train ten local teachers to effectively promote literacy among kids in the facility. Also, 250 new children’s books will be bought and a Reading Corner assembled, bringing children closer to books and motivating them to read.
Fundación Leer will train teachers on children’s literacy. Volunteers will create/inaugurate a Reading Corner with 250 new children’s books, offering literacy related activities. We will offer technical/pedagogical support and monitoring/evaluation.
Children/Youth: enhance reading/writing/oral expression; read more for fun; succeed in school; value education for personal growth. Parents/Teachers: become good reading models; promote reading/literacy for children’s future; promote family reading.
