Significant progress has been made on the Center to Improve Reproductive and Child Health. The outside concrete block walls for building areas that will house the prenatal and childcare examination rooms and the spaces for family planning consultations have been finished. Pictures of the latest building construction advances are attached to this report.
A wonderful extra benefit for the community from this project is that the concrete blocks for the construction were purchased from a new concrete block making initiative on the hospital grounds. This endeavor, established by Scottish missionary Keith Waddell, employs local labor to mix the concrete and form the blocks.
The next stage toward completion of this phase of the Center is the roofing. Due to logistical challenges, the shipment of roofing materials was delayed. However, we anticipate that the roof construction, the addition of water and electrical services to the building, and the final interior finishes will be completed in the next six months.
Once again we are grateful to our donors for your continuing support of the Mwandi hospital and its commitment to serving the people of the greater Mwandi community. Many thanks to those who contributed on Giving Tuesday and throughout the year. We wish everyone health and happiness as we look forward to 2023!
