The American Partners are happy to announce that the construction of the new Center To Improve Reproductive & Child Health has begun. The first areas to be constructed will include examination rooms for prenatal and child care and spaces for family planning consultations. Workers removed large trees to clear the construction site earlier this month (see attached pictures). Old, nonfunctioning underground water and electrical lines in the area are now being excavated. After these preparations, the walls of the foundation will be dug, filled with cement, and topped with a layer of blocks. Next, the concrete slab floor will be poured.
We look forward to sharing more pictures of the progress being made on the new Center in our next report. We anticipate that the construction of this phase of the Center will be completed in six to eight months. Many thanks to our donors for your continuing support of the Mwandi hospital and its commitment to serving the people of the greater Mwandi community.
